The 1000 Islands Addictions and Treatment Centre, features a creative development program through their art therapy instructor Karin, that is run on a weekly basis. The art space in additional to the mental health treatment of the centre allows for self-discovery, provides a safe space to process emotions and build self-esteem while also reducing stress and anxiety as a healthy coping mechanism.

Our art therapy instructor Karin is trained in fine arts and is well versed in many creative outlets. Karin attended Sheridan College with a focus on traditional fine arts, and St Lawrence college for graphic arts. Her personal artistic works have hung and sold locally across southern Ontario. Karin has also worked with vulnerable groups and individuals locally to develop strategies of fine arts in response to everyday stress, such as the City of Kingston KFPL and the Seniors Association of Kingston.
